I wish that Lucy was going to remember the fact that she saw orangutans in the wild, but I think we were just a bit too early for that memory to stick. Nonetheless, I thought it was pretty cool. These are pictures of Nora and her two babies - I can't remember the babies' names. The orangutans really do live in the wild, but sometimes there isn't enough food, so they come out to get the fruits provided by the staff at the rehabilitation center. I am so glad we got to see them!
"Orang" is the Malay word for "Man" and Orangutan means, "Man of the Forest." Orangutans are in the same category as the ape, which is the closest species to man. It's kind of spooky how "manlike" they are ... (not so much "womenlike," just man - I crack myself up.)

On the way back to the car, we crossed the path of this gigantic millipede. I wouldn't want to come across this sucker in the middle of the night! Yuck!

A couple of men I know come to mind when comparing apes...
Ha...your funny.
And I have a very similar pic of my foot by one of those thingys in Uganda.
Yikes, monkies! They've never really been my favorite animal out there but I do like to watch them. I absolutely do NOT like the milipede...
Thanks for sharing none the less.
