I think I have showed you pictures of this building before, but I thought I would put it up again as it is where I have been the last couple of days. After all the excitement with John Cusak and the movie, I realized that we are actually here for a reason and I actually need to get some work done - a lot of work. This year I will be the part-time college counselor in a school where all the kids go to college, many of them go in the U.S. or Europe, and most get scholarships that I am supposed to help them find. They all want to go to prestigious schools and I am supposed to write there recommendations without knowing anything about them, including how to pronounce their name. Nice. In addition to all of that, I am teaching IB English to 11th graders and keyboarding to all 8th grade students. This is the first year that IB (International baccalaureate) has run in the school, so there is a lot of work to be done to get the program up and running. By next week, I need to have a clear picture of what I will be doing for the entire year and my syllabus turned in for all my classes with a year outline attached. Yikes! Luckily, the syllabus for keyboarding has already been done by the guy who taught it last year, but as for English, that's all up to me. I guess what I'm saying in all of this is that it's going to be a work weekend for sure. It's 12:30PM right now and I'm headed downtown to run some errands, but after that it's nose to the grindstone ... can you tell I'm trying to convince myself right now? Hope everyone has a wonderful weekend!
