I'm feeling a little better now that we've slept, ate, and explored. I crashed after my entry last night and then woke up around 4:30AM. Pete and I tried to sleep for a while, but it wasn't working, so around 6AM we started unpacking. We have a lot of room and it's a cute space. It felt good to get some of our own things up and make it feel like "ours." At 10AM we met with all the new teachers and Lou, our director, and went over paperwork and went on a tour of the school. After that, they took us into town where we exchanged money and went to the technology and grocery store. The city is interesting - there are a ton of huge apartment complexes and lots of little stores. The grocery store is very similar to home, which was a relief. We haven't been to downtown yet, that will come after we get back from our trip. Tomorrow we leave on a five-day tour of Bulgaria that includes a couple of days at the Black Sea. We're super excite.
Pete is already getting into the mix of things. Right now he is off playing basketball with some of the guys from the school. It's a regular thing around there and girls aren't included. I'm kind of glad :) I'm going to spend the next hour or so unpacking and getting a bit more settled. Although, I need to be a bit more careful - I pretty sure I already ruined our speakers. We thought the voltage would be fine for them over here, but when I plugged them in there was a strange smell and now they don't work. Luckily, however, our trip to the technology store proved that things aren't as expensive as the states. I bought a hair dryer for 18 Leva, which is about ... ahhh ... $10, I think?? And I bought a ceramic hair straightener for around $50. Still expensive, but it would have been at least $100 back home.
Anyway, the campus is beautiful. The vegetation is extremely similar to the Northwest and so for there has been rain, so we really feel like we are at home!
I hope you all like the pictures - I'm off to continue unpacking. I'll try to write from our trip, but I'm not sure if there will be access to the Internet. If not, I'll be back with more pics and stories in five days!
