Hooray for date night! I love it! Pete and I successfully made it downtown by ourselves for the first time and even managed to locate the Indian restaurant. It is the first time since I've been here that I have ordered something and had expectations and my expectations were met. The food was SO good! I think we ate enough for five people and I don't even feel badly about it. Sandy - I can see why you went there for your 22nd birthday! The only obstacle we encountered was a cab driver who tried to rip us off on the way home. He wanted to charge us like tripple the price it usually is. Pete, being the aggressive man that he is, refused to pay him the price and pretty much said, "Look, Buddy, you get 7 leva and that's it." I was really proud of him.
Today started off with keyboarding. I can already tell that Wednesdays are going to be challenging! So far I've really liked the kids and have enjoyed the 8th graders, but this class was noisy and restless - even at 8:00am. I guess I should count my blessings that I don't have them later in the day!
Everything is still up in the air about the weekend. We now have three plans: A) Everything with the visas work out and we still head to lake Ocrid (spelling?) in Macedonia; B) We go to Greece and hike Mt. Olympus, say "Hi" to Zeus, and head home stopping in Melnik on the way back; C) Stay in Bulgaria and putz around some small towns. I'll update you tomorrow on what the final plan is. We looked at other peoples pictures last night and now I'm up for any of the plans!
