O.K. It's 3:00pm here in Hong Kong. I am still at work, but I am doing a blog. I don't care. So, without further ado ... here is our Penang recap:
We arrived in Penang on the 28th. We love Malaysia and it was good to be back there. We were a bit disappointed with the hotel. It was nice, but we bought a package deal and felt like it was a little misleading. We were hoping to be better connected to home, but at $20 an hour for internet, that didn't really happen.
Lucy had fun playing in the pool. She really wanted to do it herself and not have Daddy or Mommy hold on to her hands, but whenever we let go, she took a nose dive, so we continued to hold on.

People were offering horseback rides on the beach. Every time Lucy saw a horse, she screamed, "Doggy!" It was pretty cute. One time the guy riding the horse just nodded his head, smiled, and said, "Yes, doggy" very calmly.

We thought this store was kind of funny ... you can pick up your medical supplies and your liquor. Good deal.

We went to a great restaurant for New Year's. Good food and great atmosphere. They even provided hats.

They had a band that sang "How Much Is That Doggy In the Window" for Lucy. Here's a clip.
It rained for a little while most days, which gave Lucy the chance to see her first rainbow. It's hard to make out, but it is there.

On our last day there we took an eventful tour around Penang Island. We visited a factory where they make batik shirts. It was neat to see the process.

Immediately after this tour, we got back on the bus and headed toward a nutmeg factory. It was up a windy hill. Have I mentioned that Lucy has motion sickness?
Yes, our sweet little Shmoo proceeded to puke all over her mommy. Nice. We were able to clean Lucy up, as well as the bus, but I was still covered in vomit. Again ... nice. I suggested that we get a taxi back to the hotel so I could change, but Pete (in not his best moment of all time) said, "Oh, you'll be o.k. You can where my shirt if you want to." So I stayed on the tour. I was not happy. Fortunately (haha) the nutmeg factory had a bathroom. I took a picture ... notice the lack of sink.

The reason that Pete really, really wanted to stay on the tour was because our next stop was the snake temple. He was very excited about this. Lucy (feeling much better) pointed at the snake and said, "Doggy!" Yes, doggy.

She also got to see some iguanas.

Amazing!

There was also a nice little monkey.

When we got home, Lucy did not feel like taking a nap. Hmph! So daddy got in the crib with her. She didn't like him there.

On the way home, we sat next to a nice Asian man who immediately fell asleep. Luckily his eyes were closed when Lucy pointed at him, gave a wide smile, and shouted "DOGGY!" You probably had to be there, but it was seriously funny. I had church laugh for a while.
So, that's our trip. It was pretty mellow, but we enjoyed it. Traveling with a 15 month old is MUCH different then traveling with a two month old. Wow is she active these days! We loved every minute of our Christmas break with our family, though. It's been hard to be back at work.

Your trip sounds amazing. . .aside from the puke on the shirt-YUK! Poor little Lucy for having motion sickness. Joe used to as well. He hated to travel. The pic at top looks so much like you - I think. :)
I love the new blog format! Super cute. We're so glad you're coming home, even if you're basement-bound. :) Happy 2009! Should be quite a year.
I love hearing your little laugh in the background of that video! Makes me smile... :)
Glad you had so much fun! Lil LuLu is getting so big, I can't believe it. Love you guys!

Reminds me of my trip to the San Diego Zoo over the break. Have a great New Year.
