Maybe Just Enough Time For a Post ... We'll See

I'm back! My days of waiting have turned into busy days of feeding (constantly!!!!), changing poopy and wet diapers, trying to catch a few z'a here and there, and, most importantly, looking at the most precious gift that I have ever been given. Pete and I are head over heals in love with this little girl. Yesterday, while Pete was changing Lucy's diaper, she had a major explosions - actually several major explosions, some of which ended up on top of Pete's lip ... gross, I know. Anyway, Pete said you know you love somebody when their poop gets on your lip and you don't even care, in fact you think it's kind of funny.
The scariness of the c-section has been worth it all when we see our little girl. I won't take the time on here to tell the whole birth story, but it was quite an experience - nothing at all like I imagined. I always thought I would be a person who would breeze through labor, but apparently Mother Nature had other plans. In the end, it all turned out o.k., but it was there was a scare or two in the middle. I'm recovering well, although I am still a bit weak. Thank you to everyone who sent your thoughts and prayers - There is no doubt in my mind that it was the support of friends and family who have got us through this whole adventure. A special thank you to my Mom and Dad who came out here for three weeks and even extended their stay to support us. We appreciate it so much ... I love you with all my heart!
My email is full right now and I will try to get back to all of you, it may take some time, however. I am learning to type with one hand while breastfeeding - it's quite an accomplishment. Once I have mastered this skill I may catch up on all the notes. Here are some pictures to satiate you in the mean time :)
Lucy and me at the hospital ... don't you love the pink outfit! I was SOOOOO ready to leave the hospital by the time they let me out - you have no idea!

Here we are leaving the hospital ... Lucy's littel outfit was so cute. She didn't really like the hat though, so she wore it just for the photo op.

Lucy's first taxi ride ... I was scared to death ... started crying ... I think I am going to have to work on being overprotective.

Here is Pete readying Lucy her first story, "Daddy Loves Me." It's now become a morning ritual. Next week, however, Pete has to go back to work. We are going to miss him so much!

My new life ... here I am holding the baby, while putting my make up on ... there's a lot to get used to in my new world!

My only birthday wish this year (aside from a happy and healthy baby) was to leave the house for a little while. I had been cooped up since we got home for the hospital, so here we are taking Lucy on her first walk. It was so good to get out! Hopefully I'll incorporate walks into our routine soon.

These pictures serve two purposes ... one, to show you how cute are daughter is and how much she loves hanging out with her dad (especially while he does Fantasy Football on the computer) and two, for my sister, Katy - she's wearing the cute frog outfit you gave her. I hate to tell you this, Kate, but this maybe the only time - her legs don't quite fit. It's so cute though!

We took her to the doctor on Tuesday. The nurse cleaned her umbilical cord, then while we were waiting to see the doctor we heard something fall on the floor ... the cord and clip had fallen off! Pete said, "Someone lost their cord" when he saw it on the floor ... I was like, "Oh, could someone be our daughter?" It was funny. Anyway, she already gained 6 ounces - she's up to about 9lbs, 2oz. She's our little pigglet! I swear she would eat all day, which is why I have to learn to multitask, or I will go crazy! Fingers crossed she is sleeping O.K. during the night in about three to four hour chunks - five on occasion. Now if only her mommy could quit worrying and getting up to check on her every hour, maybe I could get three to five hour chunks of sleep, as well. Hopefully I'll calm down soon. :)
Well, that's it for now. Marge and Norm, Pete's parents, are in town. We did manage to go on one outting with them so far to dim sum. Lucy was really nice to us and slept the whole time. Yeah! Hopefully we'll be able to venture out here and there as the weeks pass.
It's super hard to be away from all of you right now. I miss home and the fall so much, but Pete is such a great support system and we have a lot of good friends here as well. I am counting the days until Christmas - it'll be here before we know it.
Sending lots and lots of love across the ocean ... Pete and I are overflowing with love right now, so there is lots to go around.

She is PERFECT!!! She looks so much like both of you combined.

Those pictures take me back to when Emery was born and everything was so new! I remember waking up every hour to check if she was still breathing. That will get better by the way eventually.

I love that she is eating like a champ!

And you look so good Trac!!!

Can't wait to see her in person.
