Tomorrow, May 6th, is St. George's Day. It is a big celebration in Bulgaria, also known as the Day of Valor. One of my favorite things about this country is that you get both a birthday and a name day. Your name day is the day of the saint you are named after. For example, not only is tomorrow a celebration of St. George, it is also a name day for anyone with the name George (or a derivative of George: Galin, Galina, Gergana, and a bunch of other Bulgarian names). Unfortunately for me, my name day (St. Theresa, as Tracy is a derivative of Theresa)is October 15th, which also happens to be my birthday. What are the chances? Hmph! So, I guess I only get one special day a year.
Anyway, here's to you Uncle George! Happy Name Day - you are a man of valor!
