We spent the first weekend of Spring Break in Eugene. Auntie Katy came to visit, which the girls loved of course. Then we headed to Newport for two nights. We had such a great time - I would say the trip was as perfect as it could be when traveling with a 3 and a half year old and a days away from two year old. It was truly wonderful.
The girls dancing on the peer, enjoying our evening stroll by the sea.

One of the main reasons for going to Newport was a chance to once again visit the Oregon Coast Aquarium. The girls absolutely love it there.
A highlight, as always, is getting to touch the sea anemones and star fish.
This time even Sofie was big enough (and interested enough) to join in.
Apparently Harry Potter was at the aquarium. Lucy is checking him out and thinking, "Blue glasses? Really?"
Sofie is talking so much these days and loved running up to the exhibits and telling us about them.
We visited the play area for the first time - the lighting was great for some good pics.
I love this picture of Lucy, although I took it with my phone and it isn't quite as sharp as I would like it to be.

After our visit to the aquarium, we spent some quality time on the beach. The girls loved it, which hasn't always been the case in the past.

Lucy wrote her name in the sand. I think she did an excellent job! She is already starting to read a bit these days. She can sound out three and four letter words and can almost write all the letters of the alphabet.

Pete also wrote in the sand: "I love my women!" He better! He's going to have enough of them surrounding him! :)
Sweet, sweet Sofie turned two on Thursday of Spring Break. We just celebrated with the family, although she still received presents like she had invited a whole school to attend! The adults had a lovely meal of flank steak, potatoes, and a yummy salad. The girls ... well, they couldn't have been happier with their mac and cheese. Without fail if you ask them what they want for dinner they say, "Mac and Cheese!"
The birthday girl.
Opening her presents ... our little rag-a-muffin. She fell into my parents' brick hearth the day before and got a nice bruise on her cheek.
Enjoying her cake ... I'm not quite sure why she's not wearing anything. It is probably for the best though.
Here are a few pictures from a few weeks back when we took a trip to the farm. Our wonderful friends, the Erickson's, invited us to Sarah's grandmother's farm. The kids had a blast playing in the hay and feeding the cows. It was a real treat.

It looks like you had a wonderful spring break! Your girls are so dang cute. Miss you guys.
Okay, so many things running through my head right now.
1. Happy Birthday Sophie, what a sweet sweet little girl...I can just tell.
2. WTF (sorry moms who follow this)! Lucy can sound out three and four letter words as well as write her name!!!! Holy moly! I have Kindergarteners who are still working on that stuff! I'm VERY impressed! Are you sending her to preschool soon? I would imagine she's more then ready.
3. Are the girls pretty close in height? In the dancing shot they look real close in size. But that would mean either Lucy is super tiny or Sophie is a bit bigger. Or was it just the way the gals were standing.
4. Love the trip, I can't wait until we can do more stuff like that. It's getting better.
5. MISS you like crazy! What's your actual due date?
Thanks for the update and so many photos. :)
