Well, it's now Sunday night and I feel like I pretty much didn't get a weekend at all. Friday we went out to pizza and came home and crashed because Saturday was open house at the school. The other counselor, Karen, and I had to give a big presentation on financial aid for international students to all the 12th grade parents. I worked really hard on the power point all week, but just before we left the power went out! Luckily, it came back on before the presentation, so it all worked out, but I did freak out a little before the lights came on again. After open house Karen and I spent a couple of hours looking over all the information on students who want to apply early decision. So basically, we worked all day on Saturday. On Saturday night, however, we had a big party on campus for all the members of staff. It was so much fun! One of the houses here has a bar in it that they call "The Smokin' Goat." It's a cute little set up. Some of the Bulgarian teachers brought their guitars and at first they were just singing songs we all knew, but later in the night they busted out some Bulgarian songs. It was so cool! There are dances to go along with the songs so they were teaching all the international teachers how to do the dances. I loved it. Today we woke up late and then I went into work for about another three hours, then around 6, some girls and I went to "The Merchant of Venice" at the movie theater. It's a brand new movie theatre and it looks just like the ones at home. It was great to get away for a couple of hours.
Anyway, now I'm home, Pete's downtown watching football with the boys, so I think I'm going to put a movie in the computer and crawl in bed. Watching movies in bed on the computer is my new favorite thing.
My goal this week is to write some individual emails. I feel like I'm connected to people through this blog, but it hit me the other day that I haven't really been emailing anyone. I talked to my mom on Friday it was so good to hear her voice. Marge and Norm and Andy and Ali, we will call you soon. We need to get a calling card. We get them from a place that is about a 15 minute walk from here and I didn't have a free second all week to go there. Tomorrow, however, I'm determined to make the trek! A & A - I hope you had a fantastic first anniversary!
