A bit of sun and Easter Eggs
Sunday night again, only this time I have two more "work get ups" until I go on maternity leave. Tuesday will be my last day, then if all goes well, I will have 9 days at home before baby Emma enters our world. I am truly excited to meet her (and to be done being pregnant). I would be lying if I said I wasn't a bit scared about three under 3.5 years old, but we are a team and I know we can do it. I think the biggest challenge is going to be sleep, but I've been there before and survived, so hopefully I can do it again.
Despite all the rain we have gotten around here, there has been a few bouts of sun. Even if it is only a few minutes we run outside to play. As you can see sometimes we don't even have time to get warm clothes on. Actually, I always suggest a coat, but if my suggestion is refused I'm not going to fight about it. Lucy, of course, is in a dress up outfit and, at least on this day, insisted on being called "Angelina." The name always depends on her mood and outfit. Sofie is in her birthday present, which she LOVES. She is constantly talking about her car, her keys, and where she is going. I don't know if we've ever bought something for either one of the girls that is loved as much as Sofie loves this car.
Anyone who knows me knows that I am a holiday girl. I love holidays. Sometimes I like to picture life like Candyland ... you have your blue days, your yellow days, green days, etc., but every once in a while you get a fun day where you celebrate and get to eat all the candy you want. :) Actually, I usually end up enjoying the build up to any holiday more than the holiday itself. However, I can't say I was jumping up and down at the thought of dying Easter Eggs with a 3.5 and 2 year old. The pictures I had in my head did not conjure up a lot of fun and always ended up with Pete and I cleaning up a big mess. In the end, I was very pleasantly surprised! I boiled 12 eggs, laid down ground rules before we started, and was task master the entire time. No dye was spilled, no tears were shed (most importantly by me). The entire event lasted about 20 minutes, which was perfect given the girls' ages right now.

We started off with a few jelly beans ... essential for the Easter season. I usually give up candy during Lent, but this year ... not so much.
Lucy does her own hair. She won't let me brush it and usually wants every hair clip she owns in her hair at the same time. Because I am a firm believer in choosing my battles, I do not fight her on this unless we are going somewhere that it is truly essential that she looks somewhat normal.
I love Sofie's face in this picture. The first time I handed her a hard-boiled egg she tried to eat it with the shell on. She was completely confused when we put it in dye, but eventually got into the swing of things.
Voila! 9 colored eggs. I was going for a dozen, but three cracked.
Sweet Lucy ... she is getting so grown up. Sofie is growing up too, although she has hit the "terrible twos" with full force. She is still as cute as ever, but she can be a P-I-L-L, as my mom used to say when we were little. :)
