Summer! You're here! I've missed you!

It's summertime! Whoo hooo! For it a minute there, I thought it wasn't going to arrive, but it did and we are ALL glad. The last couple weeks of school almost did me in, but I finished on Friday morning and I am ready to let the summer sun wash some of the stress away. I haven't taken many pictures lately, but here are a few.

Lucy likes to pull the comforter off her bed and make a "beaver home" for us. Then she likes to pretend to put us all to bed. I have no idea where she comes up with some of this stuff.
Pete went to Boston with his dad and brother last week. He was gone for six days and had lots of fun, but we sure did miss him. He brought presents home for the kids ... Lucy got these cute bee slippers and a lobster shirt that says "I'm a keepah!"

Sofie got lobster slippers that are a bit too small, but we squeezed them on for a picture.
Sofie still isn't walking, but is getting really close. She can stand up by herself from a sitting or crawling position. She has taken a couple of steps, but not much more - this girl likes to be held and I think she's smart enough to know that if she can walk we might put her down from time to time. :)
Pete got me these gorgeous flowers on my last day of school. Lucy picked them out and I am absolutely in love with this bouquet. It is so pretty - I can't capture it in a picture.
This is what we are doing right now ... early Sunday morning ... Lucy is watching "Syd the Science Kid" and I am catching up on the blog. Tonight, dinner with Jerry (our co-worker), tomorrow strawberry picking with another coworker, Lex. Ah, summer - LOVE IT, LOVE IT, LOVE IT. Of course, if you asked me in an interview why I stay in education, I will say to have a positive impact on the lives of the next generation, but ... come on, the fact that summer ROCKS has something to do with it too!
Finally, this video is for Uncle Matt:

Memorial Day Weekend and Some Other Stuff

Somehow over a week went by since Memorial Day. I've actually had these pictures uploaded for a while now, I just haven't had the time to type about them. We had a wonderful Memorial Day weekend in Redmond with Andy, Ali, Brady, and Drew. It is so much fun to get all the kids together - crazy at times, but lots of laughter and happy sounds.

We took the kids to the High Desert Museum, which is a great place! I remember going there when I was a kid, but I think it has gotten much cooler in the past twenty years :) The kids loved it!

Brady and Lucy hanging out by the fish.

I just think Pete is so cute. I'm going to print this one out and put it in my office - just so you know. BIL and SIL
Lucy touched a Madagascar cockroach and thought it was pretty cool. She talks about it all the time.
We came home on Sunday and on Monday, with out any prompting, Lucy decided she wanted to use the potty. She did really well that day and we even went out and bought Dora "big girl panties." Since then, however, it has been hit and miss. She likes to sit on the potty and read her "Dora and the Rainy Day Book." Sometimes something happens and sometimes it is just a lot of reading and talking about the potty. At least it is a step in the right direction. The vice princpal at our school has a girl about the same age as Lucy and we were talking about potty training yesterday. He said, "The way I see it, none of these seniors who will graduate on Saturday are still wearing diapers - it'll happen sometime." I thought that was a pretty good point. :)
Here's some pics Pete took of the girls while he was baking cookies with them last week. Sof still isn't walking, but she can now stand up by herself from a crawling position without holding onto anything or using anything to pull herself up. The girl just still likes to be held - what can I tell you, she's a cuddle monkey.
Good cookie!
Now on to some vids ...

Here is one of Lucy and Sof having a dance party. It was actually much better before I started filming. Sofie is a hilarious dancer - she does a full "head bang." It cracks me up every time.

The video is kind of shaky, but I wanted to capture Andy and Ali's gorgeous view! Amazing!
