Pete and I celebrated our fifth anniversary last Friday on the 19th! When I think about all that we've done it definitely feels like five years, but when I picture the wedding day itself, it feels like yesterday. This last month has been really tough with every kind of illness for our poor little shmoos. During it all, however, I have constantly thought to myself how lucky I am to have such a wonderful person beside me. Pete can always make me feel better and always talks me down from the ledge (and I've been there a few times this month!) Thank you, Shmoo, I love you!
We went from just the two of us, footloose and fancy free, to ...

Just the four of us ... not so footloose anymore, but we love every minute of it.

Here's the run down -- the girls got colds, we think they both had RSV. Sofie had a double ear infection, Lucy had an ear infection, both on antibiotics. Two days after the last dose of antibiotics, Lucy woke up in the middle of the night throwing up ... everyone got the flu (including my poor Mom and Dad who came to help and babysit for our anniversary). Flu passed, then yesterday the girls woke up with swollen, red, gunky eyes and runny noses - pink eye! I took them to the doctor (again ... the doctor and I are becoming best friends) who thought it probably wasn't traditional pink eye, but just another cold concentrating in their sinuses. She thought they were once again headed for ear infections, so ... back on antibiotics. It seems our kids don't have the hearty immune system required for full-time daycare. I am totally, utterly, and completely exhausted (although Pete let me sleep in until 8:00 this morning -Lucy woke up at 6:00 ... grrr), so that helped a bit. Working full time, worrying about sick kids, and taking care of day-to-day life has taken its toll the last month. Here's hoping and praying the luck of the Irish will be with us in March.
Lucy is a riot these days. She loves to dress up in all of her clothes and parade around the house. I think she is wearing about three layers in the pictures below. She also recently was told the anatomically correct name for boys' and girls' "parts" and likes to walk around the house telling us what the girls' part is called and what the boys' part is called. Nice.

Sofie is a riot too, I just don't have a picture right now. She is really crawling and staring to pull herself up. Lucy and Sofie kind of play together, but then Lucy gets annoyed and says, "Back a-way, SOF!" and is fond of screaming "MINE!!!" Then the next minute she is lovey all over again. I am sure it is a cycle that we will see continue for years to come. I am anxious for Sofie to start walking and be able to hold her own a bit. I keep telling Lucy that she needs to be nice to her sister because it won't be long before they'll be on a pretty level playing field. :) I don't think my warning has made much of an impact though.
I hope all is well in everyone's lives. Happy March ... Spring is around the corner!
