Eugene!
We're here and moved in. I don't have any pictures yet, but I will try to get some soon. I'm back at work this week and Pete's first day is Thursday. More to come ... sending everyone lots of love.

A Lovely Summer Evening
Ah ... It's good to be home. I may write that in every blog from now until the end of time. If we were going back to Hong Kong this year, we would already be back there and back to work in the hot, hot, icky, yucky humidity and air pollution. Just writing that made me take a deep breath and thank the good Lord that we are back home. I digress ...
We had a lovely summer evening tonight with Marge and Norm and my fam. As we are packing up the U-Haul and heading to Eugene tomorrow, we figured we better have one last summer shindig. Lucy enjoyed her slice of watermelon, as you can see.

We'll be out of blogging commission for the next few days as we'll be setting up shop in Eugene. Wish us luck and I'll try to post an update soon.

Summer Recap 09
Wow - Have I ever gone that long without blogging? I don't know. I must admit, it was kind of nice to take a hiatus and just enjoy living in the summer. As I've said in all my posts, it's great to be back in the States and around the family and friends that we have been away from for far too long. Today is officially my first day back at work; however, they are letting me work from home, as our apartment in Eugene isn't ready until next weekend. It is so nice of them to let me do that - it will definitely help me ease back into work and being away from the kids. I am excited to go back to work, but I am going to miss our two little Shmoos so much. At least this time around I got nearly five months with Sofie, as opposed to only eight weeks with Lucy. Still, it will be hard to drop them off at day care in a couple of weeks.
Pete and I are doing our personal best to jump-start the economy. In the past week we bought two TV's, a DVD player, a vacuum cleaner, an iron, a blender/slash food processor, a toaster oven, a coffee grinder, clothes ... the list goes on. It's kind of fun playing house after four years of making do with Bulgarian hand-me-downs from 1928 and the bare minimum in Hong Kong.
So - are you ready for the whirlwind summer recap? I really haven't taken as many pictures as I should have, but here is what I've got:

I plan on taking a picture of Pete and the girls every year at Haystack Rock. As they get squigglier, it is more and more difficult to get the perfect shot.

The Sofster. This picture is almost a month old now and she has changed so much. I'll try to post a more recent one soon.

On July 24th, we headed to Hood Canal to attend one of my dearest friend's wedding. Leah - you looked SO beautiful and the day was gorgeous. I am so happy for you, my friend.

Here are a few shots of Lucy and Sofie playing. It's not happening often yet, but it is so cute when they hang out even for a few minutes.

Our friends Carolyn and Teresa (Pete used to teach with them) came to town last week. Carolyn brought this cute outfit for Lucy. It was a little cold outside the other day, so I put some leggings on underneath. Too cute!

I don't have any pictures of our weekends with Andy, Ali, Brady, and Drew, but it was so fun to see them and so fun to get the kids together. Lucy and Brady had a blast running around in the sprinklers.
Just for my baby book (since I don't even have one for Sof and Lucy's is practically empty) - Sofie has rolled over twice now, but I don't think either one was intentional. Once at Leah's wedding (aided by the angle of the lawn chair she was laying on) and the other time on Sydney's birthday (August 9th). She's working on it. What she is really good at is smiling. She is such a smiler and is so happy - we love it.

We spent some time at the beach in mid-July. It was so great to get back to the Oregon Coast.
